Flower Friday : : Rose

I love the old fashioned English Garden roses. Not only are they beautiful but they smell wonderful. The little white spider must have thought the same thing!

Our garden is at its best right now. Not only is everything flowering, it is flowering abundantly. I spent some time amongst the roses today because their scent is so seductive! A week or two of warm weather has also brought on an abundant growth of grass...not only our lawn which is beginning to look like a field, but in the field where grasses have buried the wildflowers and threaten to overrun the shrubs OilMan has planted out there.

No sooner does it stop raining but there appears an article in the newspaper about what a fire danger all this grass will be when it dries! We are required to mow our field, but we may have to do it more than once this year because it is growing so fast. We pay someone to mow our field but OIlMan has been trying to control the wild grass in the gully that runs the length of our property by weed whacking a little bit every day. By the time he gets down to the bottom of the lot it's time for him to stat from the top again!

It would be nice to enjoy the warm weather for a few days without having to read about how Cal Fire is gearing up for another extreme fire season....The sound of mowing and blowing echoes through the neighborhood from dawn to dusk....
