Near the top of the tree

Called around to see daughter J in Glen eden this afternoon. No long before we left I heard the whistling call of the Eastern Rosella. There were two near (or occasionally at) the top of a tall tree in a neighbour's back yard. The Lumix was available and I managed to get a photo I could work with to show it in all its colourful glory.

Native to Australia, the rosella has been introduced to New Zealand, and there are smallish groups around Auckland.

Also up near the top of the tree were a number of Tauhou (White-eyes), which darted around as they do. One or two would stay still for a while, and I have put one of those in as an extra.
