Off to the Hebrides

Another good day, with a little light rain overnight. Turned into a bright afternoon and after picking Mrs M up and going to do a little shopping we drove home via the North Pier, where right on cue a yacht left the pontoon under power to sail out of the bay. I love it when  a picture creates itself as you approach!

She's the gaff rigged ketch Bessie Ellen, built in Plymouth in 1904 and working her way through both world wars. She's owned by Venture Sail, leaving for a four day voyage out through the Hebrides. She doesn't have a rigid itinerary, going where the wind takes her, but generally heading out to Skye and the Outer Hebrides. Lucky people!

The extra shows her turning to leave the bay as the Lismore ferry comes in.
