Spot the Beetle

I only noticed it when i was emailing the photo to myself. I looked it up and think that it is a Ground Beetle. Tricky to tell though as apparently there are 2700 different types in Europe. Am not a Beetle expert. Whatever, it is sitting (do beetles sit?) on an Allium that is just about to burst into flower. In my front garden (makes a change from the front porch)
