Common Enchantments

Brookvile Hotel

Travel day from Denver to Abilene, Kansas. We found this really great restaurant beside our hotel. Homestyle fried chicken, mashed potatoes, real gravy, creamed corn, a sweet and sour slaw, baking powder biscuits and homemade vanilla ice cream. After all the western style food, home cooking was much appreciated.

Not only was the food great, the restaurant was housed in the Brookville Hotel, in existence since 1870! The decor was amazing! They let us walk around to all the dining rooms and upstairs there were "hotel" rooms with period furnishings!

Sometimes the stop for the night is a good choice! Before we leave tomorrow we are heading over to the Dwight Eisenhower library and museum.

Traveled about 450 miles today and one time zone change. After the museum in the morning we will make our way toward St Louis to see the Gateway Arch.
