Skål!

“Norwegian Constitution Day is the national day of Norway and is an official public holiday observed on May 17 each year.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Constitution_Day

This morning’s plan was to visit a family friend who’d invited us to his home to watch live coverage of the 17th May parade and celebrations in Norway. Unfortunately, for both our friend and us, the party had to be cancelled as his television had packed up. So instead I celebrated at home with:

- Mor Monsen Kake (Mother Monsen's Cake - a traditional Norwegian cake)
- Brunost (Brown Cheese - totally yummy!)
- Linie Aquavit (a Norwegian liquor distilled from grain and potatoes, flavoured with a variety of herbs, matured in Oloroso sherry casks, and sent on a sea journey, twice across the equator!)

I used to live part time in Norway (a long story) and love the country and its people. So I wish all my Norwegian friends a very happy 17. Mai! Skål!!
