Old Hastings....

We visited D’s sister-in-law in hospital in Hastings this afternoon. It was good to see her although it’s been far too long and not so good that she’s in hospital. She is really hard to contact! Her daughter was also there. She has a special birthday and a 10th wedding anniversary next Saturday and lives in Heathfield so we shall be heading south again for the party.

We had to head for the beach of course after our visit and headed for the fishing quarter of Old Hastings. The sun came out for us and it was good to spend an hour walking on the pebbles among the fishing boats. Lots of the old tall net drying buildings have been converted to smart private accommodation whilst keeping their character. The funicular railway climbing to the top of the cliffs brought back memories of a school trip many years ago.
