Morning mist

It was eerie in the woods at six o'clock this morning - a heavy mist hung over the trees and beaded webs were strung between them, brushing my face as I walked slowly round Thorpe Wood on my fifth breeding bird transect of the year. Fewer birds are singing now, but there were several noisy family parties of great tits and long-tailed tits, and I saw a pair of greenfinch gathering nesting material.

The rest of the day was spent preparing for my teaching stint at Leeds Uni - updating my lectures and making sure that I remembered what I was going to say. Off to bed soon as I shall need to be on a train very early tomorrow morning!
