National Bee Day

My first day of teaching at Leeds went smoothly. Our field trip to Ledsham Banks went particularly well - a week later than last year and a milder spring resulted in many more species being in flower, making it much easier for the students to record the plants growing in their quadrats.

I was home well before 7 p.m. and was surprised to find this large swarm of honey-bees settled in a cotoneaster bush in the front garden - oddly appropriate for National Bee Day!
