Bective Abbey and Trim Castle

Dear Diary,

It sounds like a broken record, “another beautiful day”! Karen and I decide to have a quiet, easy day and after a morning wander around Navan, we head to Bective Abbey which as only about 7 km from Navan. It was a fascinating medieval monastery and we had it mostly to ourselves, which was heavenly after the noise and crowds in Dublin. There was no shortage of photographic options with all the arches, colonnades and openings.

Then it was onto Trim to see the massive Norman castle, the largest in Ireland and a lovely lunch in the town. It couldn’t have been a nicer way to end our tour of Ireland. Home tomorrow!
