Gordale Scar

We drove out to Malham with friend Nigel today and took a walk in to Gordale Scar.  It's a place that never fails to impress, no matter how many times we visit, with the sheer limestone walls of the gorge rising up to blue sky, and solitary trees growing from the rifts in the rock.

Afterwards we stopped off in the village for a cuppa and locally made yummy apple pie and ice cream.  A grand couple of hours out!

Back home we called in at the garden centre to pick up some sharp sand to mix with the soil in preparation for the arrival of the wildflower turf on Thursday.  The soil needs to be low fertility to prevent the grasses crowding out the flowers, hence the sand mixture.
