Day Off

I had a break from the “day job” today.

Instead I stood outside one of our local polling places from 7am until 9pm - with time off for meal breaks, of course. Anyway, about 12 hours on my feet engaging with voters.

Most of those encounters were good natured, and many were very positive. A few - 3, or maybe 4 - were utterly poisonous. We have a few bitter and angry folks out there. We knew that, I suppose.

It looks as if turnout has been a bit higher than usual for an EU Parliament election, but that is not very high.

No other party got a representative there at any stage during the day unless it was during my meal breaks. Several did not even have enough grassroots support to get a sign up.
