Last Journey Back to Lucker

Another super day on the Costa del Northumberland.  The weather was, once again, glorious with rich blue skies and stunning coastal views.  We were sadly without our blipbuddies Hildasrose and SHH, but headed out to meet a new blipper, DollyDoug.  We were picking up Dolly from the train arriving at Alnmouth soon after 1 pm so had time to scout out Amble ahead of this.  As we neared Alnmouth station we were overtaken by Dolly's train as the track ran alongside the road.  By the time we arrived the train had stopped and passengers disembarking - I soon saw Blipper DollyDoug.  We set off for a look at Alnmouth first finding the obligatory stop for coffee and cake/lunch.  The town was interesting but not as spectacular as we were expecting.  However, we did find a lot to keep us occupied on the river beach with boats left high and dry by the tide and fascinating features and prints in the sandy mud. I also found a candidate for Flower Friday with strong shadows of flowers on a blue bin in one of the backstreets (extra).

We had a lovely day with Dolly with lots to talk about - had Rose been with us too we would not have stopped talking at all!  Moving on to Amble we wandered round the harbour - again finding lots to interest us. the tide was, of course, coming in and I just about managed a shot under the 'pier' without getting wet feet!

We dropped Dolly at the station for her return train to Newcastle and continued up the coast to Boulmer where we parked up facing the sea.  I heated up the campfire stew from Rose's recipe and we ate our dinner with the beautiful Northumberland coast as our backdrop.  Magical!

Eventually it was time to head back to Lucker for our last night here.  On the way we had to stop a couple of times for the sunset behind the wind turbines.  Not the most interesting of sunsets but some magical colours.  Our last night here before starting or journey south tomorrow,  We are taking a few days over this so I have no idea yet where we will be tomorrow night.  I hope it is not too long before we can meet up with Dolly again.
