Beautiful Big Beetle

I spent an enjoyable time this morning watching a pair of blue tits feed their freshly fledged young in a field maple. One of the adults has lost all the feathers on its head. :(

We found the longhorn beetle on an afternoon walk at Parndon. I decided that it would be my main image as I thought I'd never photographed one like this before. As it happens it's a variable longhorn and I shot a very dark one last June.
