Thank You For the Days ..

A Pair of Birds?

Up bright and early this morning, after a couple of droopy days, and a couple of missing blips. I hope I'm not on the slippery slope, I will try harder this week! I was out at 7am blipping the garden, as it is in full growth and flourishing. I will have to do something in there soon before it all gets completely out of hand. But not today ....

First thing, a bit of packing (we're off to Surrey tonight, for a week of grandparenting fun). Then the setting up of the watering system to keep the greenhouse going while we're away.

That done, we thought we'd treat ourselves to a trip over to Born in the Borders to see if the lonely male osprey had found a new mate, and I'm very happy to say that a young female has joined him.  Freya, the one who came last year didn't return, sadly she probably didn't survive the long journey to Senegal and back.  This one is big, and feisty and two years old, so fingers crossed it will work out for them.

Rosie, the lady who keeps an eye on them, was not impressed by the goings-on in the coffee shop. Usually the screen at the end of the room shows what's happening in the osprey nest. Today, she said, it's a different pair of birds.  And indeed, in real life as well, a couple of children's entertainers were doing their stuff for a dozen or so little girls all dressed up in their princess outfits, and having a lovely time.

I'm kind of with Rosie on this, after four grand daughters all having been through the Frozen phase, I got heartily sick of the story. Give me the original version every time!  But they were very happy to pose for a picture.

And we were spared having to listen to their patter, as the tables round us were filled by a group of cyclists from a neighbouring town. Their chatter drowned out every other sound. Are they so used to yelling to each other as they race along that they forget to turn down the volume when the helmets come off?

And now, back to packing.
