Home for 9 days (Iceland - Day 1)

Today was a day of travel and airports - Sundsvall, Arlanda, Oslo, and finally Reykjavik. We arrived in the evening, were ferried to the van-hire and picked up our home for the next 9 days. It was a basic home, not too many amenities, but it was a dry place to sleep, and at a push we could fit all 5 of us around the table, should the weather be really bad.
We drove to the nearest campsite at Sandgur∂i, just a few minutes from the airport, and set ourselves up for the night, because tomorrow morning we meet our fellow travellers from the UK.
The extra shows Gardur (Gar∂ur) old lighthouse, and Jan! We almost camped here but the campsite was still closed.  This headland has claimed many ships. That spit of land to the NW of the lighthouse, appearing as the tide goes down, collected 22 ships during the 20th century, mostly fishing boats from northern Europe, but not a single Icelandic boat!
