A Late Start

Our decision yesterday, to stay another night on the showfield to let the awning dry, was a good one. I'd packed plenty of food to cover this possibility so we had a relaxed evening and a relaxed morning.

We'd dismantled the display last night so there was only the car to load and the awning to take down this morning. That allowed plenty of time to take a walk onto the tow path of the Lancaster canal.

This section of canal was cut off from the main canal system when the M6 extended into Cumbria. For most of the year this little tour boat, Waterwitch, has the closed section of the canal to itself but it was joined, for a few days, by trail boats from all over the country. These boats are small enough to go onto a trailer and be towed by their owners to any stretch of canal with a slipway, usually at a marina.
