Hoy Hills from Noup Head

Yesterday's rain cleared by the evening and today, as forecast, has been really bright, sunny and warm since first light. Last night's meal was very good - Westray crab for me - and we bumped into the Dutch couple we'd met in South Ronaldsay last week. They are loving Orkney.

This morning we walked up to Noup Head (see extra for the impressive Stevenson lighthouse) and felt too warm. Here's the view looking south towards Rousay, Orkney mainland and the hills and cliffs of Hoy. So many birds and lots of cattle on the walk.

Now I'm just sitting watching the colours on the water with the tide fully up outside the cottage. A sparkling day for our last full day in Westray. We have already booked a return trip for next year. It's not that I don't like going to new places - I really do - but there's something very comforting about returning to places you love.
