A time for everything

Coming in to land!

Friday
Cold, wet and windy describes today! The rain hardly let up till late afternoon. After breakfast, we walked down into town and had a browse in a couple of the shops, before having a hot chocolate in a cafe. Then, since the rain persisted we returned to the B&B for a while to read, in the hopes it might stop. Later, it seemed to be easing a little, so we donned the rain gear again, and set out for the coast near the airport. I mentioned this in my blip on Sunday, where the coastal path literally skirts the end of the runway, and there is a stop sign, with a light and small siren by the path! We had just gone by it and had started speaking to a man out walking his dog, when I thought I detected the sound of a plane, and sure enough, the siren started, and the green light turned to red, and I got this shot of the plane coming into land. As we walked a little further, Roger happened to look back, and saw another plane at the end of the runway, ready to take off, so it was a good afternoon for plane spotting! The lull in the rain unfortunately hadn’t continued, and of course we were exposed to the wind on the coast, so it was a rather wet blustery walk, but we persisted, and did a short stretch of coastal walk we hadn’t yet done, before taking a track inland, and headed back to dry out and warm up! Fortunately, the rain did finally let up before we went out for dinner. Tomorrow we return to the mainland, by plane for our return trip, but not until 6pm, so we will have the best part of the day, and fingers crossed, the forecast is better for tomorrow!
