If you can't beat them...

Fledgling.

I tend to take a few shots of something early in the day, just to be on the safe side, if nothing else presents itself.   Following on from yesterday's Blue Dykie this fledgling, the first thing I saw, seemed highly appropriate.

Why is it appropriate?   Well it is a Dunnock fledgling.  Clearly no relation to yesterday's shot as that adult was about 5 miles away as the Dunnock flies.  This almost certainly is a youngster from the pair we have round the garden.

Dunnocks are funny little birds in that they spend so much of their lives on the ground and among low vegetation and yet at this time of the year there they are perched in full view high up, song posting for all they are worth.
