Córdoba then Granada

Backblip
We got up early and packed up the cases in preparation for our trip early afternoon to Granada. But meanwhile, we still had more of Córdoba to explore! We made an early visit to the Alcazar which had great view and stunning gardens but a rather dreary building, pretty much overshadowed by the magnificent Mesquita.

In no time it was time to bid farewell to Córdoba- it’s a pretty town that was worth spending three nights in. Luckily for us it didn’t live up to its name as the frying pan of Spain as would not have been able to walk as much as we did.

We bought some food to eat on our trip to Granada, which was by luxury coach with a travelling time of 2.45 hours. The journey went pretty quickly, nice scenery and knew we were close to Granada when I spotted the snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains.

We were met at the bus station by José, who was co owner of the AirBnB we were staying in. He have us detailed instructions of how to get to the place and areas to visit. He also got us a taxi for the 15 minute journey to the Albaicín, one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Granada.

We had a great discussion with the taxi driver, who although hardly spoke any English and us hardly any Spanish, we covered climate control, bull fighting, the Alhambra and Braveheart (when we told him we were Scottish). We always get good vibes from locals when we say from Scotland, it’s good to hear that Scotland is liked in Europe, and many we met this trip seemed to know that we voted to be part of our European neighbours - made me feel good.

We got dropped off at the end of a hilly narrow cobbled lane and arrived at no 15. Yes, it had its own private lift that opened out on to the flat. Amazing. But even more amazing was this top floor flat that was like stepping into your own home not a holiday rental and the view from the veranda of the big old palace on the hill where we were going to visit tomorrow.

We sat on the veranda and felt happy that we had three nights here in this perfect accommodation and planned our meal out but first we had a short walk (uphill) to the Mirador de SAN Nicolas fornthe spectacular view over the rooftops to the Alhambra. It was quite busy as who doesn’t enjoy a view!

We toddled down to a restaurant and sat outdoors eating tapas and drinking sherry (going local).

Exhausted we fell into the comfiest of beds looking forward to tomorrow’s adventure and many many steps!,
