Journey Through Time

Oregon Junco

This is a common backyard bird, especially seen in winter months. They like to visit our suet feeder and they like to peck around on the ground for whatever they can find, weed and grass seeds or seeds that have fallen from feeders. The western Juncos have black (male) or grey (female) hoods and brown backs. I've blipped them before, but here's another one.

We went to a bird feeding supply store here in Vancouver as Bill got a gift certificate for Christmas. He selected a new suet feeder that is "starling resistant". He was complaining this morning that the starlings were eating all the suet...so this should help.

The library that is closest to our house is in the mall and that one is now closed for remodeling so we had to visit another library today to take back a book. It was a chance to see this library and for me to find another book to read. It's a much bigger library and it was fun to go there. Hey, I like libraries, okay? LOL The book I took back was the latest book by Lee Child who writes the "Jack Reacher" books. Tom Cruise bought the rights to the movies and his new movie is just opening around the country. I can't emphasize enough how this is such a major casting mistake. But I guess Tom Cruise read the books and read the description of "Reacher", the hero, and thought he could do it justice. Jack Reacher, in the 17 books I have read, has consistently been described as 6'5" tall, blondish, a bit disheveled most of the time, not particularly handsome, a huge man who is very intimidating when he wants to be. He has never once been 5'7", dark haired, preppy good looking kind of a guy. Not once. It still might be a good movie, but, believe me....he's not Jack Reacher.

That's it for today folks. Catch ya later.
