A time for everything

Clovelly

Tuesday
Today we were leaving the Wadebridge area, and heading towards Taunton. Our plan for the day was to visit Boscastle and Clovelly en route, but waking up to a grey wet blustery day, I originally wasn’t too sure about taking on steep wet cobblestones in Clovelly! However, by the time we were on the road, it had stopped raining, so we hoped for the best and drove to Boscastle. We looked in a couple of the shops and walked down by the stream to the little jetty. It was nice to see how the village has recovered from the devastating flash flood of 2004. Ordinarily, we would have walked up onto the cliff path, to get another perspective, but it was still drizzling and the wind was so strong, I didn’t fancy standing up on a cliff top! We warmed ourselves up with a hot chocolate at the tea room, then continued on to Clovelly, by which time it was dry, and the cobbles were mainly dry, so it wasn’t a problem. It is such a picturesque place, but unfortunately wasn’t looking its best under heavy grey skies, and waves breaking over the harbour wall! However, we made the most of it, wandering along all the narrow alleys. We had lunch at the pub by the harbour, then went on to the Taunton area, where we were staying just one night in a lovely B&B out in the country.
