Snowballs in June

My rather steep and rocky garden has a lot of invasive plants in it - Rhododendron ponticum and Gaultheria shallon, to name but two. It does have a few good shrubs too, and this is one of them.

Deutizia scabra is a shrub from China and Japan, and this pure white double form is, I believe, 'Candidissima'. There are other double forms but they often have pale pink or purple outer petals - this one is totally white. Very nice. I looked up 'Candidissima' to see what it meant - extra candid, I thought. Google told me 'the feminine form of 'Candidissimo'! Useful.

When I've been able to get rid of the undesirables I'll be able to plants some more beauties! I'm up on the bank today with saw and loppers!
