Hyper alert

We were visited early this morning by a pair of Tauhou (silvereyes). They investigated the flower heads of the crucifix orchids. Their diet consists of insects, fruit and nectar. There is rarely edible fruit on our deck, but tiny insects must attract them as well as some nectar from the flowers. They particularly spend their time on the orchids. The bees are less picky, although right now there is relatively slim pickings.

Lunch with daughter C who has been getting good feedback on her writing. The most recent is from the judges of a US competition. She was awarded first place, and the judges comments have just been sent to her. Very positive and affirming. She is hoping that it translates into an offer to publish. Whatever, the affirmation boosts her confidence and encourages further writing.

Some months ago I had the chance to read the book that she submitted, and although it is particularly aimed at the Young Adult readership, I found it to be an excellent post-apocalyptic story.
