Wonderful Wings

Sitting at the dining table I heard a lovely sound. I fell out of the side door, grabbing my camera and adjusting the settings as I scrambled to see what it was. I managed to capture the Avro Lancaster City of Lincoln through our grape vine. What a wonderful sight, it's one of only two airworthy Lancs in the world. I was very interested to read that its four Rolls Royce Merlin engines have SU carbs, the same make as the two on our Triumph TR4. I blipped both of the airworthy Lancs flying together in 2014.

The weather has been lovely today after yesterday's extreme heat, sunny but with a cooling breeze. I captured a painted lady, an ovipositing holly blue and tortoiseshell butterflies.
