Variegated Meadowhawk

Hot again earlier today but it clouded over about 3 p.m. and it got nice and cool, actually down into the 70s!  It is a welcome break from the heat.  We even got a few drops of rain but no lightening....yet.

This lovely dragonfly posed nicely for me this morning while we were out for an early walk.  Poor Piper doesn't understand why she can't go in the water.  Her usual swimming place is in the river but it's running too high and fast with spring run off and the ponds are full of algae.   I read an article about some kinds of algae being harmful to dogs so we're not taking any chances.  There is another little lake that we might try tomorrow to see if it's clean enough for a swim.

I am grateful to Pipersdad for making dinner tonight....and now it's time to eat! :-))
