Vatersay

The lack of data on the phone and wi-fi has meant a longer break from blipping than I wanted, but we’re back home now, so I can catch up (again). We stayed the night near Taynuilt and got up early and were in Oban by 8:30 where we did a little last minute shopping at Tesco and got me some seasick pills from Boots before checking in at MacBrayne’s pier for the boat. I took a couple of seasick pills as we left, on time, at 10:30; it was pleasant until we left the shelter of Ardnamurchan and then turned a bit rougher. The stabilisers did a good job and I just felt a wee bit dozy; some German kids fared a little worse. We arrived at Castlebay at about 3:30 and headed for Vatersay to bag the Marilyn on the island. Heiseabhal Mor is only 190 meters, but the wind was gusting 70 to 80 kilometers on the summit, so keeping the camera still was trying. The blip is taken just below the top looking south over the rest of the island. We went to the campsite at Borve and checked in with the postie, who runs the site. It was so windy we didn’t put the roof up as the van was being shaken.
