A view from Jeanneb

Second cut.

The sweet peas have gone off like a train this week
We have two on climbing pyramids and they are looking fantastic. To keep them that way they need frequent cutting so we are enjoying their distinctive scent indoors And this is the second bunch cut this week.
A visit to New Coley this morning. We’re looking for a replacement red Hammemelis for the one that died this year but no one seems to have one, perhaps the wrong time of year. We bought some Penstemons instead, a nice dark red on and a contrasting lighter pink.

Our replacement Alexander Rose seems to be getting into its stride this year. It’s predecessor always dominated the front garden. The other ‘dead’ plant my rose for Eda, Champagne Moment is full of flower though not very tall. It’s replacement from David Austin is in a pot but not flowering yet. Future blips both I hope.

After your encouragement yesterday re the nostalgic smell of hay, I have written two pages of ‘Letters to My Grandchild’. I’ve enjoyed doing it just wish there weren't so many more to do!
Other than that I’ve indulged in watching the start of Le Tour in Brussels.

Taking our son out for tea shortly. We are out tomorrow when he usually comes and will be away then for two weekends. As he is to be chief cat sitter we thought we should treat him.

Unexpectedly lovely afternoon. (No there isn’t a yellow sweet pea it’s a stray marigold!)
