Sgwarnog: In the Field

11yo, 14yo and I enjoyed the afternoon sunshine at Nethermoor Park where Guiseley were hosting Bradford City in one of the traditional local pre-season friendly fixtures.

What was making it a bit more of an event for us this year was the presence of Nephew #3 who was donning a City match shirt for the first time having signed for the club a few weeks ago.  Adam’s had a frustrating last few years in his career after bursting onto the scene as a youngster. We’re delighted to see him join the club that the kids have grown up following and hope he, and the team, have a successful season in front of him.

City won today’s game 2-0 and were looking a brighter and more balanced squad than this time last year. Both teams have made major changes to their squads over the summer though, so it will be a while before preferred teams and formations emerge.

Today’s image features Adam patrolling the far touch line, with the second half City team looking on from the bench. I've posted a few more images from the match over on Twitter.
