A Day Worth Recording

Walledflowers

A visit to the Walled Garden at Croome today.

We've been to Croome a few times but never managed to get to the privately-owned walled garden within the estate.  You tend to think of walled gardens as being fairly small - this one's seven acres! (The accessible bit is five, but that's still respectably ridiculous).

The owners found themselves owning it by accident.  They thought they'd bought a building plot for a large private house but discovered they'd got something of historical significance and have completely diverted their plans, and money, into restoring it.

We met and chatted for some time - comparing notes on the joys of recovering lost gardens; though their task is somewhat bigger than ours!

Like us, they enjoy putting art in the garden.

More in extras, including catching my first Marbled White.
