Hazy Summer Day

As soon as I saw this patch of backlit spiky grass in the bright sun, I knew I wanted to make a picture of it. I think the fine wispy needles create an effect similar to mist or haze, added to by the soft focus of the telephoto lens. A few darker green stems are enough contrast in this high key image to provide a pattern of lights and darks and make it interesting.

I'm not sure the grass is supposed to be growing there and in any case not to that extent, but I'm grateful to mother nature for giving me a photo that reflects the heat of a summer's day.
