What Am I?

Edit: I think I've identified this as Pasture Thistle

The wonderful thing about macro photography is searching for suitable subjects which forces you to look harder. Things look different when magnified to this degree. Understanding how relationships, backgrounds and depth of field, work at this level is a whole new avenue to explore.

I'm not sure yet what this flower will turn out to be when it emerges. First it was a spiky round ball, then a kind of pineapple and now it has a pink puffball.

What's also a challenge is the slightest whiff of wind will cause movement at this scale, so I'm constantly playing with iso to get a faster shutter.

Sorry, couldn't resist the sunset extra.
