George Square

This is what beautiful George Square looks like when the Edinburgh Fringe Festival gets its hands on it. They ruin all the natural grass with their excavations and then put down artificial turf. Admittedly it does look better than when the diggers and ironmongery where in force a fortnight ago, but any tranquility in this natural oasis is lost until long after the Festival madness is over.

I was out and about in the early morning sunshine to post a fat cheque to HL’s accountant for filling in my new to me self assessment tax return for 2019, which indicates I have no tax liability. Ironic that what I gain on the swings, I lose on the roundabout.
With apologies to son#1 and my brother, I sometimes feel I am paying to keep lawyers and Chartered Accountants in a standard of living they don’t necessarily deserve.
