Le Grand Tour de Bretagne - Jour 12

Oyster time at Port de Bélon, Brittany

Another day of 26 degree sunshine, and another day of altered plans...

Having discovered on our morning return visit to the Ville Close of Concarneau (extras 1 & 2) that there was a Brocante fair the next day in Pont Aven, we decided to have a quiet afternoon and bypassed Pont Aven, by chance coming upon a lovely little rural campsite at Bélon. From there we took a short stroll and discovered the hidden gem that is Port de Bélon. Well, it was a hidden gem to us, but apparently it’s well known for its oysters and people come from near and far to buy oysters direct from the oyster farm, then sit and enjoy their delicacies with a chilled glass of Muscadet, taking in this beautiful view of the meandering river estuary.

Not being oyster eaters, we found an equally scenic spot to sit and enjoy the scenery, the sunshine, and a Kir, or two! (extras 3 & 4)

(Thank you for all your recent kind comments, stars and hearts. It’s now Tuesday 23rd, I think, and it’s currently 40 degrees outside, and 42 degrees in the van! So if the above doesn’t make sense it’s because my brain, along with my iPad, is melting in the heat!!)
