Sunbathing birds

Are these woodpigeon? [Updated 25/07/19: 'Yes' says our pal Jack.]

Mr hazelh and I came across them this afternoon when cycling in the Pentland Hills. They appeared to be nesting under a tree, not far from a rough path. Like us, they were enjoying the warm sunny weather. Today has been one of those beautiful summer days that we dream of in the depths of a Scottish winter.

We had such a wonderful time out on our bikes (and at Molly's tea shop for ice cream on the way home) that I have almost forgotten that I spent five hours this morning finishing off reviews of the work of two PhD students.

Exercise today: 30.42 mile bike ride.
