Mountain Row

As we walked past today it suddenly struck me as a little incongruous to call these cottages Mountain Row - we hardly live among mountains - it's just a wee bit hilly!

We managed a circular walk around our valley late morning - a route we hadn't taken for some time which was incredibly wet! The ground was absolutely sodden and we were wading boot deep through mud along the path that crosses from Crane Moor Road to Thurgoland Hall Lane. The farm was particularly bad ,but then we knew it would be, particularly as we passed the `little bully' calf pens. (The public footpath passes through the farm yard.)

We were just about back in time to rescue our bedding that was out drying on the line from the windblown rain shower. We'd been waiting to get it laundered ever since our Christmas visitors departed - this was our first sunny morning for quite a few days.

A chance to work on some small watercolour sketches this afternoon with a view to developing one/ two a bit further. My main new years resolution is to get my artwork going again.
