Sunday: The Wreck of the Pesuta

There are a number of old shipwrecks around Haida Gwaii but the Pasuta is the only one that is accessible.  You can reach it on a trail that takes about two hours to walk.

The Pesuta ran aground in 1928 after a storm in the Hecate Strait.  Fortunately, no lives were lost but its hull is now firmly embedded for all time in the sand.  It's pretty impactful.

Later in the day, we went to the Heritage Centre in Sandspit.  It was actually good to do it at the end of our time as it put everything in context.
