Le Grand Tour de Bretagne - Jour 18

Sunset over the Étang de Saint-Aubin, Pouancé, Maine-et-Loire

The heatwave hit big time today, 40 degrees, far too hot for me...

Knowing that we were in for an unbearably hot day, we were up and on the road by 6am, slowly making our way north towards the ferry, enjoying a golden sunrise (extra 1).

By 8am we were in Châteaubriant, and parked up next to the château; you couldn’t wish for a more scenic breakfast picnic spot! The château itself was a pleasant surprise, so much to see and such rich history (extra 2).

With the day heating up quickly, it was only a short hop to Pouancé and our lakeside campsite, where, by midday, we were all set up to ride out the heat: 40 degrees outside, inside the van 41 degrees! (extra 3) Apart from a quick paddle in the lake, the rest of the day and evening passed in a steamy haze...

(Backblip. Thank you for your recent kind comments and stars, am gradually catching up with the world of Blip.)
