North Hill Raven

Hiking 1,300 feet up onto the top of North Hill in the Malverns with the hope of seeing even one Grayling butterfly proved a little disappointing as I saw neither hide nor hair of any. Conversely this raven right at the top was very happy as it tore apart it's prey on a crag.

It was muggy but on the crest lovely and breezy, with a view of the surrounding vale even in the mist quite stupendous. Incredibly well camouflaged graylings are difficult to spot anyway though maybe because of the lack of sunshine there wasn't the will for them to fly - if they were there at all.
