We are warned not to seek shade under live oaks in hot weather, because they can shed branches explosively if there's not enough air circulation for cooling. I don't know if that's what happened in this case!  We have real clouds as monsoon moisture pushes up from the south - makes a nice change to have them lit from below by the setting sun. The grasses are good this time of year, too (extra).
