At home: Who is the fun guy? (fungi)

We moved the horses again today. Moving a herd of horses in one go, as in a loose and free herd is easier than catching each one separately. You always get the over excited one that gets left behind, who loses the plot with excitement. So we electric fenced of the route to make a funnel into the next field, over an open track. Luckily the lead horse has a sound head on his shoulders and least the rest without a fuss or frolic. Phew!

On the way back from opening the road safe gates, I found this. A real treat. I think its called 'Wood Ear' or 'Jews Ear'. Its edible, if I am right and named after Judas, who hung himself from an elder tree, legend has it. But that said, I dont know whether the stump is Elder anyway, or if this is actually another fun guy (fungi) altogether x
