Nicky and her Nikon

Nature's beauty

What a blessing, Xena slept through last night and only woke up at 5.30am, and then after a wee outside went back to sleep until 7.30am. It has been a long time since we have slept through the night as before Xena arrived we were still suffering from jet lag, so we have had broken sleep for 2 weeks now. It really is like having a baby in the house!

I took advantage of both Gavin and Luke being at home today to watch Xena while I started and finished my photo book of our holiday to Peru and Galapagos. If I don't do them soon after a holiday then they never seem to get done (I still have not done last summer holiday's book!)

I also continued to make enquiries about dog sitters as an alternative boarding arrangement for Xena. Before we knew we were getting her, when Murdoch was still alive, I booked on to a 4 day photography workshop in Porto in November, and Gavin was planning on coming with me. If we find a suitable boarding arrangement then he will come with me or else he will stay home to look after her. After two pet sitting agencies said they would not be able find someone willing to take on a 5.5 month old puppy, I made contact with someone else who came highly recommended and she is able to take Xena - subject to us meeting and I like what I see. So we will see how that goes when I meet her at the end of next month.

I had no time for photos today as the photo book took so long to do - so my roses came to my rescue - except Xena thought it would be fun to try and chew them while I was photographing them!

I had such a laugh as when I take Xena outside and say wee-wee, she does a wee on command, but Gavin and Luke were complaining that she does not do it for them. I said it is because she is used to my higher pitched voice, so they have to speak to her in a higher pitch so she recognises the command - so there was Gavin outside saying wee-wee in such a funny high pitch, and it worked! Gosh what would the neighbours think if they heard him!
