Pineapple in a Rowan Tree

When it was our Golden Wedding Anniversary earlier this year, Mr P surprised me with this little golden pineapple ( even though we had both promised no presents).
Not sure what the message was behind the choice of pineapple:
Sharp and prickly on the outside, sweet on the inside, though sometimes sharp.
Erm...might be more to this than l first thought :-)
