Oor Andy

A day off work today saw us visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum to see the Linda McCartney Retrospective photography exhibition. Really enjoyed it, and would recommend a visit if you get the chance between now and 12th January.

Afterwards, a wander through Kelvingrove Park and then a bite to eat in Finnieston at The Hidden Lane Tearoom

No photography allowed at the exhibition of course, so not represented in today’s blip.  So main photo and extra is of the Oor Wullie sculpture in Kelvingrove Park – my usual description below. Other extras include a view of the tower of Glasgow University’s Gilbert Scott building from the park, an ice cream van waiting for trade in the park, and some tearoom décor.

Oor Wullie's BIG Bucket Trail is on display around Scotland.

The loveable scamp from the Scottish comic strip is the inspiration for almost 200 statues across the country.

This is Oor Andy; created by Adam Pekr. Oor Andy is a synthesis of Oor Wullie and Scotland’s most famous tennis player, Andy Murray. He wears the flags from his beloved home country on his legs and his prized Olympic medals around his neck. His racket is ready in his back pocket and the features on his bucket create a window into his natural habitat – a tennis court.
