a smile from Zambia

A big croc on the Zambezi says hello.
Our day started before breakfast with a guided bird walk around the grounds of our lodge. Then the morning at the Vic falls which are spectacular and a tick as my 4th of 7 Wonders of the World. Apparently the water levels are lower than they should be this time of year and the Zambian side of the falls are all but dry. We crossed into the Zimbabwe side where the water force is still spectacular and the spray is cooling. We had planned to see a lunar rainbow over the falls by full moon but unfortunately the water level were not high enough at the right points for this unusual phenomenon to work. Instead we had another lovely evening river cruise with sundowners.

Animals seen today but not already recorded were elephant, zebra, warthog, giant kingfisher (on my wish list), great and little egrets, green backed heron, sacred ibis, blacksmith lapwing, green sandpiper, white browed robin chat, yellow bellied sunbird, hammerkop, purple heron, black headed oriole.

Now we are off to Botswana and sorry but I think I will be back blipping when we get home.
