From The Lighthouse

A view of Glasgow Central Station roof from the top of The Lighthouse Tower. I took #1 up here for a first visit, a bit of a grey day, however good views. The Station was opened by the Caledonian Railway in 1879 and the roof erected in 1882.

The Lighthouse is part of The Herald Building in Mitchell Street, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1895. It was his first pubic commission.

We were in town for one of those rites of passage ... buying the first suit ... from guess where! Reality is about to hit, and the hope of interviews in the Spring. He looked very smart, and I nearly said "Suits you Sir", but decided not to push it too far.

This also gives me another entry for my occasional series Beside the Railway.
