For One Day Only

Dramatic certainly, hibiscus flowers are the size of dinner plates, but catching them at their peak is a challenge. Miss the opportunity and tomorrow the petals will likely be on the ground.

Unfortunately, they also attract the Japanese beetles which feast on them and cause wholesale destruction. Perhaps hibiscus are more trouble than they're worth, some might say.

Anyway, they are vibrantly colourful, have interesting shapes and textures and produce some nice light and shadow.
