We had a few pop-up showers today, heavy but brief.  In the hopes of finding a cool breeze, we carefully trekked down the very tenuous Squaw Rock footpath along the river.  At the bottom, a hiker told us about this heron.  It patiently stood near the water's edge for quite a while, until a noisy family came along, then it slowly walked out to the middle of the river.
