Nicky and her Nikon

A hot day

As promised, today was a scorcher - 31C and sunny. This morning we took Xena to her first puppy training class. She is still nervous around other dogs as has not had that much contact with them, but after a short while she found her confidence and was fine. The class consisted of various breeds of puppies, but my favourite was the English Bulldog - he had enormous paws, and was so friendly - kept making those snuffling noises as is expected with the breed due to those short noses. The owner was saying that vets these days are performing surgery to enlarge the nasal cavity to allow the dogs to breathe easier, as due to over breeding the breed now suffers from breathing issues as a result of their flat faces and short noses. There was also a 12 week old Chihuahua puppy that no bigger than the size of one's hand - Xena was not quite sure what it was!

When we got home from the puppy class Xena was so tired she slept  - the heat has not helped and she has been very lethargic all day, I can't blame her. The funny thing about her being toilet trained to go outside in a certain part of our garden is that she now won't go anywhere else - she seems to have a cast iron bladder as she held it in all morning at training and afterwards when we went for a coffee, despite being offered suitable grassy places to do her thing.

Thomas has just had a treat as our (wealthy) neighbour took delivery of a Lamborghini (Aventador SVJ) today, and as Thomas is such a petrol head who loves cars and has an interest in car engines, he took Thomas for a drive in it. The smile on his face said it all! His love of engineering extends to a love of cars and how they work so it was a big thrill for him to go for the drive.

On such a warm evening we will be having a BBQ again tonight. I expect this long weekend will be the last hot weekend this year so we might as well make the most of it.

Here we have Xena posing nicely with Luke and Meriel. She is turning into a real little poser!
